If you thought Robot Vacuums were safe from hackers, you were wrong. Earlier this year, hackers took over ecovacs robot vacuums across the united states.
One event was when a Minnesota lawyer was watching TV. He heard a voice, which started screaming racist things. More people in the US also reported similar incidents. In Los Angeles, a Deebot X2 started chasing a dog.
Ecovacs then made a statement identifying a “credential stuffing event”, and blocked the IP address. As of writing, no usernames and passwords were collected.
More and more devices are being hacked everyday. This just shows that nothing works better than the standard vacuum.
