When it comes to laptops, it’s hard to make something that’s truly unique. That’s where the Framework Laptop 13 comes in. It’s the first laptop we’ve ever seen that allows you to truly configure the device. While we have never got our hands on this device, it seems like something that could change the landscape of laptops.
If you are interested in tinkering with technology, the Framework Laptop 13 looks like a game-changer. The laptop allows you to switch out parts, such as the keyboard, display, bezel, and so much more.
This is all done through the website, where you can customize the entire device itself. Do you want something like an orange bezel? You can do that. Down the line, you can also switch out parts with ease. There are plenty of options here – such as different processors. Some options include the following:
- 4.5Ghz System, 4.8Ghz System, or 5.0Ghz
- 13.5″ 2256 x 1504 Matte Display, or a 2.8K 2880×1920 Matte Display
- Plenty of memory options, ranging between 8GB and 64GB
- Storage options ranging between 1TB and 4TB
You can also add expansion cards, which will add additional functionality. These include stuff like DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-A, and MicroSD.
The big promise Framework has here is upgrading and repairing. Let’s say new hardware comes out. You order the hardware, and swap out for the new one. If something breaks too, you don’t have to replace the entire laptop. All you have to do is replace the broken part of the Framework Laptop 13.
People seem to be loving this product. Twitter user Barnacules Nerdgasm had the following to say about their laptops: “This laptop is a freaking work of genius, and it has 6 slots that can be used for replicable modules that can be moved around and placed in any order also without using any tools. It’s all held in with just little switches you can flip back and forth.“
Even if you are someone who’s not interested in the whole tinkering aspect here, the Framework Laptop 13 has here is something we have our eyes on. You don’t need experience in tinkering, or making computers. It’s really easy to work with.
Right now, it’s currently in pre-order phase. Both Batch 1 and 2 have sold out, but their next batch will ship sometime this month.
