This morning, Sony announced the next console in their lineup. It’s the Playstation 5 Pro, and it’s a powerhouse of a console.
For $699.99 USD, the console promises even better performance and fun. New hardware such as the Upgraded GPU has 67% more compute units, allowing for 45% faster rendering. It’s advanced ray tracing also allows more dynamic reflections and refraction of light. This technology allows the console to cast at triple the speed of the current PS5.
Artificial Intelligence is also making its way into the console, in the form of upscaling. It’s being called Playstation Spectral Super Resolution. According to Sony, this provides super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.
More enhancements are here, too. They added PS5 Pro Game Boost, which improves the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games. The Playstation 5 Pro also comes with Wi-Fi 7, as well as 8K gaming and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate).
Even if you upgrade, Sony promises it’s compatible with PS5 accessories such as the Playstation VR2, Portal, Dualsense Edge, Access controller, Pulse Elite, and the Pulse Explore.
The Playstation 5 Pro launches November 7, 2024. If you are interested in pre-ordering, you can do that starting September 26.
