Compared to AI models, Amazon Alexa can be pretty dumb. Sometimes I have to ask her to stop multiple times, and she just doesn’t listen very well.
That seems to be the problem for most people. Multiple people report Alexa being slow in responses, as well as doing random things on her own.
It looks like Amazon finally wants to improve on the assistant, using Anthropic’s AI. However, people will have to pay $5-$10 a month to use it. Thankfully, nothing will happen to the current version.
Amazon has invested $4 billion in Anthropic, for a partnership that will give Amazon Web Services access to Artificial Intelligence.
It stinks that Amazon wants to charge people for this – people already bought the devices. According to GeekWire, the company usually holds a launch event every fall. This probably means we will see new devices launch as well.
Maybe this move will get me closer to having a real-life version of Jarvis in my home.
