If your looking for a portable gaming console, the ASUS ROG Ally 7″ is on sale at Best Buy for only $499. That’s $150 off the sale price.
The ROG Ally is one of those consoles you rarely hear about. However, many reviews call it a good device. According to ASUS, the portable console is a “true windows 11 gaming machine”. It comes with 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It can also link to your Steam, Xbox, Epic Games, GOG, and more to allow you access to thousands of games.
While the idea of multiple launchers seems annoying, ASUS has you covered. They designed a special edition of Armoury Crate allowing you ignore the launchers and just play.
In terms of specifications, this thing sounds like a powerhouse – It has a AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme, that uses Zen4 architecture and has 8 cores. While that might seem battery draining, they allow you to choose between three different modes to conserve battery.
Before you think about buying, your probably wondering about FPS. During testing, they got about 41 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077, and about 59 in Hogwarts Legacy. Sports games performed even better, with 87 FPS in FIFA 2023 and 158 in Overcooked 2.
The model that is on sale comes with a 120Hz screen, and 512GB of storage – which should be enough for some games.
